When it comes to purchasing a home in West Texas, many older homes will still have cast iron drain lines installed from the original construction. To purchase a home without having the sewer line inspected via a sewer camera can be a gamble. It's not possible to know whether the sewer line may be cracked, damaged, or otherwise impacted in some manner. Root intrusion can prevent proper drain operation by obstructing drainage, and eventually cause a backup. A common defect I often see in cast iron drain lines is corrosion and build up. This essentially reduces the interior diameter of the sewer drain line, which can be very difficult to correct, short of replacement. Lastly, don't assume that drain issues are limited to older homes. I recently utilized a sewer scope inspection to check a PVC drain line near Lamesa that had been replaced in the last few years. A small crack on the bottom of the PVC line had resulted in heavy root intrusion! Would you like to learn more? Click the link below!
