Fun finds week ending 10/30/16

In a crawl space under a home in rural west Texas, I found the shed skin of a snake! Thankful to have not come across the owner of said skin, as it would likely have been face to face!

Many of us enjoy a hot shower or bath, but the water temperature supplied from the water heater at this home could place a bather in peril due to the extreme temperature!
Scald injuries are possible with half a second exposure to water at temperatures near 160 degrees!
What is also interesting is that the water heater thermostat was not set to this extreme setting, possibly indicating a malfuncion in the water heater.
